Chifan is a community for East Asian founders, investors, scientists and operators working in deep tech, from robotics and semiconductors to fusion, biotech and space. We're starting in London.
What brings us together is simple: good food and good company. Every few months we gather around a table for a long, unhurried meal, and our signature is hotpot: one shared pot, everyone cooking together and getting to know each other properly.
East Asian talent and perspectives are still underrepresented in Europe's deep-tech scene. We hope these dinners make it a little easier to meet people who share your roots, swap ideas and cheer each other on, whether you've just moved here or grew up in the diaspora.
Our name comes from 吃饭 (chīfàn), “let’s eat”. In Chinese, asking 吃饭了吗, “have you eaten?”, is an everyday way of saying hello.
